How To Choose The Right Ladder for Interior Painting

When it comes to painting the interior of your home, having the right ladder can make all the difference. With so many options available on the market, it can be difficult to know where to start. In this blog post, we'll walk you through the key factors to consider when choosing the best ladder for interior painting.

At Easy Access Co, we have recently been traveling with the Resene Road Show and our reps have been talking to professional painters about what they look for in an interior ladder. We have put together some tips based on this feedback from painters and our experience from developing and making ladders for over 20 years. This should help you choose the best ladder for your interior painting needs.

Type of ladder:

When considering a ladder for interior painting, the most important factor is the type of ladder. We recommend using Platform Ladders for detailed work like cutting in and other longer duration tasks. This is because longer duration tasks on a ladder can be risky when you are not working from a large, stable surface. Platform Ladders provide a large stable surface to give 3 points of contact while working. We also sell height adjustable ladders for larger rooms.

Another commonly used method for interior painting is using Step Ladders or Dual-Purpose Ladders with Planks between to provide a low level platform to give access to larger painting surfaces. This means you don’t have to hop down as often to move ladders and is and efficient method. We also sell Aluminium Folding Work Platforms which serve the same purpose and are more effective when moving these around and transporting.

If you are often working around electricity we strongly recommend using Fiberglass Ladders as these are non-conductive. We have one of the largest ranges of fiberglass ladders in NZ which you can check out here.

Other types of ladders to consider for short duration tasks are: Step ladders, Dual Purpose Ladders, Extension ladders and All-in-one Multipurpose ladders – these give a huge range of height access.

Durability:

Some applications or job sites are just hard on ladders and you need top quality ladders that will last. Look for welded aluminium ladders not riveted. The welded ladders are far more rigid, solid and secure to use as opposed to riveted or swaged ladders. Those that have tried them will very rarely return to using a riveted ladder as the welded range makes for a distinctly better experience, this is feedback we have received from our customers. Our NZ made Warthog Ladder Range is truly the strongest and most rugged out there. We also offer free replacement parts such as the ladder feet which always wear out first. This means you will have your warthog ladder around for a long time!

Height:

If you are buying a ladder for your project, make sure to measure the height of the area you need to paint, and choose a ladder that will safely reach that height. Easy Access Co offers a range of ladders in various heights to suit your needs. Again the safest option to reach a range of heights is the AdjustaStep Platform Ladders. For larger and taller rooms, a Mobile Scaffold Tower may be required.

Weight capacity:

Another important factor to consider is the weight capacity of the ladder. Make sure to choose a ladder that can support your weight, as well as any tools or materials you'll be carrying up the ladder. At Easy Access Co, we provide weight capacity information for all of the ladders on our website, making it easy to choose the right ladder for your needs.

Storage & Transportation:

Finally, consider the storage space you have available for your ladder and how you will transport your ladder. If you have limited storage space, consider the size of the ladder once it has been compacted. Not all ladder brands make ladders that compact. At Easy Access Co, we design all our ladders to compact/ fold tightly so that they are easy to transport and store away. Also consider the length of your vehicle when choosing longer ladders. You may need to transport your ladder on roof racks.
